New Delhi: Marking the 25th anniversary of the formation of Uttarakhand, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the people of the state and emphasized the region’s progress.  He urged the state’s residents to work towards a bright future for the next 25 years, aligning with India’s own Amrit Kaal towards a developed nation. Modi noted that this journey of the upcoming 25 years of Uttarakhand is a great coincidence as India is also in its 25 years of Amrit Kaal, implying a Viksit (developed) Uttarakhand for a Viksit Bharat.

PM Modi highlighted Uttarakhand’s achievements, including securing the top rank in the Sustainable Development Goals Index and being recognized as a leader in the startup category and an achiever in the Ease of Doing Business category. He cited the state’s 1.25 times increase in growth rate, 14 percent rise in GST collection, and significant growth in per capita income and gross domestic product as indicators of economic progress.

The Prime Minister emphasized the government’s commitment to Uttarakhand’s development, noting the doubled central assistance to the state and ongoing projects worth Rs 2 lakh crore. He highlighted the progress on the Rishikesh-Karnprayag Rail Project, expected to be completed by 2026, and the development of 11 railway stations as Amrit Stations. He also drew attention to the improved connectivity, with the expressway reducing travel time between Delhi and Dehradun to 2.5 hours.

Modi praised the state’s efforts in preserving its heritage, citing the ongoing reconstruction of the Kedarnath temple and the development work at Badrinath dham. He also mentioned the Manaskhand Mandir Mission Mala scheme, which is developing 16 ancient temples in its first phase.
