Imphal, Oct 10 (PTI) Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday assured all possible assistance to Manipur government in its efforts to restore peace and normalcy in the state, an official statement said here.

Modi gave the assurance during a meeting with Chief Minister Y Khemchand Singh in New Delhi, it added.

Singh briefed the PM on the state government’s initiatives to restore peace and normalcy.

He highlighted the resumption of Imphal-Dimapur-Guwahati bus services and the movement of goods trucks on National Highways 37 (Imphal-Silchar road) and 2 (Imphal-Dimapur road).

The chief minister also apprised Modi of his government’s efforts to bridge the trust deficit among different communities and urged him to approve a proposal to upgrade some state highways to national highways.

Singh sought the upgrade of the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS), Imphal, to the status of an All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
