Bareilly, Sep 20 (PTI) Tourists will now be able to visit the Pilibhit Tiger Reserve (PTR) for nearly eight months, with the tourism season extended from November 1 to June 30, a senior forest official said on Sunday.
Chief Conservator of Forests, Bareilly, P P Singh said the tourism season was earlier generally held from November 15 to June 15. In 2024-25, it had begun on November 6.
Under the revised arrangement, entry fees at the reserve will be higher on Saturdays and Sundays than on weekdays, Singh said.
Following the government’s order to open the reserve from November 1, preparations have begun to ensure that safari routes, tourist huts and other facilities are ready before the start of the season, he said.
Tourist activity has started picking up again in the Chuka area after the monsoon. Chuka Beach is a major attraction for visitors, and repair and beautification work is underway at its huts, restaurants and other facilities.
Singh, who is also the PTR field director, inspected Chuka Beach on Friday and directed officials to complete the preparations on time.
Chuka Beach and safari routes are also being repaired and upgraded, officials said.
