Nainital, May 4 (PTI) A tourist died, and two others were injured after their SUV skidded off the road and fell into an 80-foot deep gorge here on Monday, police said.
The accident occurred around 1 pm in the Pines area on the Nainital-Bhowali road. The Mahindra Thar car was heading towards Nainital when the driver lost control of the vehicle, the police said.
Upon receiving information, police and State Disaster Response Force teams reached the spot and started rescue operations. All three occupants were rescued and rushed to a hospital, where doctors declared one victim dead on arrival.
The deceased was identified as Rahul, a resident of Haldwani. The injured individuals were identified as Arvind Singh and Yuvraj Singh, both residents of Rajasthan.
