Indore, Sep 11 (PTI) One person was killed and another injured when a pan on which milk was being boiled to make ‘peda’, a sweet roll, from ‘khoya’ burst at a dairy plant in Madhya Pradesh’s Indore on Friday, an official said.

The incident occurred at Manglia plant of dairy brand Sanchi while milk was being boiled to prepare ‘khoya peda’, Indore Cooperative Milk Union CEO Vishal Kumar Mishra told PTI.

“The pan possibly exploded due to excessive steam pressure. The deceased was identified as Vinod Kumar Chadhar (34), while the injured employee was admitted to a nearby hospital, where his condition was stated to be stable after treatment,” he said.

The exact reason for the explosion in the pan is a matter of investigation, Mishra said, adding he had never come across such an incident in his professional career.

Lasudia police station house officer (SHO) Rajkumar Yadav said an investigation was underway. PTI HWP LAL BNM

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
