Bhopal, Sep 30 (PTI) Newly-appointed Madhya Pradesh BJP in-charge, Biplab Kumar Deb, on Wednesday held a meeting with senior party leaders here and stressed the need for improved coordination between the government and the organisation.
A senior leader said Deb also discussed organisational challenges with the core group leaders and highlighted the need to strengthen the party’s position in those assembly constituencies where it suffered a setback in the last assembly elections.
After his appointment, Deb arrived in Bhopal on his maiden visit to Madhya Pradesh. Rekha Verma, appointed as the co-in-charge, accompanied him.
Chief Minister Mohan Yadav and BJP state President Hemant Khandelwal welcomed Deb, Verma, and newly-appointed State Organisation General Secretary Chandrashekhar at the state BJP office.
Later, Deb joined a meeting of the 17-member core group and discussed organisational issues.
All members of the core group, except Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia, attended the meeting. The core group included Chief Minister Yadav, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, state government ministers Kailash Vijayvargiya, Prahlad Patel, Rakesh Singh, and other senior leaders.
Khandelwal said the meeting discussed various issues, including strengthening the organisation, disseminating public service initiatives, and communicating the BJP government’s work to the people.
He said that the party’s state in-charge, state co-in-charge, and state organisation general secretary have begun working to accelerate organisational activities.
“The core group meeting discussed various important issues related to the organisation and the government in detail. I discussed the upcoming tasks of the state organisation in detail, while the Chief Minister provided detailed information on the public welfare and development work being undertaken by the government,” Khandelwal said.
He said Deb discussed the organisation’s upcoming programmes and the challenges facing the party and emphasised the need for strengthening the organisation.
“During the meeting, the core group members made important suggestions,” he added.
Khandelwal said that discussions also focused on the issues the party should address in the coming days and how to make the organisation’s activities more effective.
The state president said the meeting deliberated on how the government and the organisation should work together to expand public service and what could be done to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots.
“The progress on the topics and suggestions discussed today will be reviewed at the core group meeting to be held in the coming months,” the BJP leader added.
Earlier in the day, Deb and Rekha Verma offered prayers at the Old Hanuman Temple in the Lalghati Gufa Mandir, dined at a Dalit worker’s home, and had tea at a booth worker’s house.
Deb also met senior BJP leader and former Governor Kaptan Singh Solanki and assembly speaker Narendra Singh Tomar. PTI MAS NSK
