Odisha vigilance seizes leopard skin; two held

Bhubaneswar, Apr 30 (PTI) Odisha vigilance officers on Thursday seized a leopard skin and arrested two persons involved in the illegal trade of body parts of wild animals, officials said.

Acting on a tip-off, the forest wing of the vigilance department conducted a surprise raid at Karanjkata village under Puruna-Katak police station in Boudh district and seized the leopard skin from the possession of the two accused.

The accused persons, identified as Abhay Nayak and Nilakantha Kanhar, both from Boudh district, were arrested on the spot, he said.

A case has been registered under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972, and further investigation is in progress, a vigilance officer said. PTI BBM BBM MNB
