Odisha health worker held for taking Rs 1,000 bribe to issue death certificate

Bhubaneswar, May 21 (PTI) Odisha Vigilance Department arrested a health worker on Thursday for taking a bribe of Rs 1,000 to issue a death certificate, officials said.

Bibhuti Bhusan Sahoo, a health worker of Haladia Community Health Centre in Khurda, was nabbed red-handed.

Officials said the complainant had claimed that the health worker had demanded Rs 1,000 to issue the death certificate of his parents.

Based on the complaint, a team of Odisha vigilance officials laid a trap and nabbed the health worker, an official said. A case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018. PTI BBM BBM NSD
