Bhubaneswar, Nov 4 (PTI) Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and briefed him on relief and restoration work following Cyclone Arnab, which made landfall in neighbouring Andhra Pradesh.
In a social media post, Majhi said he discussed the post-cyclone situation, relief and restoration efforts, and the need to strengthen disaster-resilient infrastructure. He also thanked the Centre for its continued support.
The chief minister had earlier said that Shah had spoken to him ahead of the cyclone’s landfall and assured him of all possible assistance.
The state government had sought the assistance of the Indian Coast Guard and the Navy to deliver relief materials to people marooned in around 70 villages in flood-hit Ganjam district.
The Centre provided two helicopters each from the Coast Guard and the Navy for airdropping food supplies, besides deploying National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) personnel for rescue and relief operations. PTI AAM AAM ACD
