New Delhi, Nov 2 (PTI) Country’s largest paramilitary force CRPF has recorded a “significant” milestone with no operational fatality of its troops over the last one year, a development registered after 47 years, the force chief has said.

CRPF Director General (DG) G P Singh said this on Sunday on X, adding the development was “specially significant” as the force continues to be deployed and engaged “intensely” in all the major operational theatres.

“A significant milestone in the history of CRPF – 12 consecutive months (One Year) have passed without any operational fatality in the force, the last operational fatality in the force being on Oct 30th 2025. This has happened after 47 Years (last such period ended in January 1979),” the DG posted.

Officials said nine Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel were killed during operational tasks in 2025 (till Oct 30).

The CRPF, with about 3.25 lakh personnel, is the mainstay for various internal security duties across the country including three main theatres: anti-Naxal operations, anti-terrorist duties in Jammu and Kashmir and counter-insurgency tasks in the northeastern states.

The force was raised in 1939 under British rule. It was renamed CRPF two years after the Independence in 1949. According to official data, 2,270 of its jawans and officers have laid down their lives in the line of duty till now. PTI NES KVK
