Sagar, Apr 23 (PTI) Slamming the Congress for not allowing the passage of the constitutional amendment for the implementation of the women’s quota in legislative bodies before 2029, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Thursday equated the opposition party with the Kauravas of Mahabharat.
“We have heard of the incident 5,000 years ago when the Kauravas disrobed Draupadi in full court. A few days ago, the same drama was repeated in the Lok Sabha. Back then, it was the Kauravas, and now it was the Congressmen. There is no difference between the two,” Yadav said.
He was speaking at the ground-breaking ceremony for 98 developmental projects worth Rs 58.46 crore at Naryavali in Sagar district. The projects included a state-run ‘Sandipani school’.
The Congress MPs thwarted Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s decision to empower women and “showed no mercy”, the chief minister further said.
“Prime minister Modi even said, you take the credit, I’ll publish an advertisement. We’ll give you credit wherever you speak. You have never given respect to your sisters, but we are ready to give them respect. However, Congressmen continued with their old line. Even in the triple talaq case, Rahul Gandhi opposed (grant of) maintenance for sisters. He even rejected the Supreme Court’s decision,” Yadav claimed.
The BJP is providing 30 per cent reservation to women, Yadav said, adding that there are 17 women collectors in Madhya Pradesh, and the MP, Mayor and Collector of Sagar are women.
God is pleased when one mentions the name of mother, he said.
“Unless you say Radha, Kanhaiya does not smile; unless you remember Mother Sita, you do not receive Lord Ram’s blessings. These things make us respect our mothers and sisters,” he said.
He also appealed to women to keep their unity intact and hold the Congress accountable. “If not today, then tomorrow, we will ensure 33 per cent reservation for mothers and sisters,” the CM said.
He also noted that his government has declared 2023 as Farmer Welfare Year.
“We are working for farmers in every field. This land of Bundelkhand is the land of heroes and great warriors. Whenever given the opportunity, the people of Bundelkhand have sacrificed their lives to enhance the honour of the country and the state,” said Yadav.
The lack of water in the region led to migration, but the Ken-Betwa River Linking project will bring water for farmers and industries, he said.
Food and Civil Supplies Minister Govind Singh Rajput and former minister Bhupendra Singh were also present at the function which was attended by a large number of people. PTI MAS KRK
