New Delhi, Apr 22 (PTI) VanVaani, a new addition to the Asola Bhatti Wildlife Sanctuary, was inaugurated on Wednesday to mark World Earth Day, with officials saying the facility will serve as a dedicated nature learning centre for visitors.
The centre was inaugurated by Vijay Kumar Bidhuri, Secretary (Environment and Forest), officials said.
Speaking about the initiative, Ankit Kumar, Deputy Conservator of Forests (South Range), told PTI the facility has been designed as a reading and learning space for students and nature enthusiasts visiting the sanctuary.
“We are offering books free of cost for visitors to sit and read. A dedicated space has been created for people to spend time, learn about nature and spread awareness. We receive many students from schools and colleges, as well as nature enthusiasts, and this initiative will help bring people closer to nature,” he said.
The sanctuary, spread over 32.71 square kilometres along the Southern Ridge, is the national capital’s only wildlife sanctuary and is home to a wide variety of birds, animals and plant species. PTI SGV PRK
