New Delhi, May 14 (PTI) Delhi Congress chief Devender Yadav on Thursday said the newly appointed members of DPCC after a 14-year gap would carry both responsibility and accountability to strengthen the organisation in the national capital.
Addressing the newly-appointed vice presidents and general secretaries at Rajiv Bhawan, Yadav said the new team represented a mix of experienced leaders, youth, women, minorities, backward classes and Dalits aimed at rebuilding the party’s base in Delhi.
He further said responsibility must go hand in hand with accountability and urged leaders to actively coordinate with frontal organisations, departments and cells to build a strong booth-level network across the capital.
“There was indeed a long interval, but a very good committee has been created, which includes youth, women, minorities and experienced members,” he said, expressing confidence that the new office-bearers would work harder to “win the hearts of the people of Delhi”.
The Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee chief added that the party had already strengthened its organisational structure through the appointment of district and block presidents, observers and formation of ‘mandalams’ and sectors.
He also said party leaders must consistently raise public issues to expose the “inaction and inability” of the present governments in addressing concerns related to governance and development in the capital.
Former MLA Anil Bhardwaj, who moderated the meeting, said Yadav’s “tireless work” over the past two years had put the party on a stronger footing in Delhi.
Several leaders at the meeting said the Congress should utilise the “vacuum” created by dissatisfaction among BJP and AAP workers and reconnect with people through grassroots struggles and outreach programmes, particularly among the youth. PTI MSJ APL APL APL
