Jaipur, Apr 26 (PTI) A new mobile application will soon be integrated with the e-RaktKosh portal to facilitate online registration of blood donors, barcode-based tracking of blood bags and improved management of donation camps, officials said on Sunday.

Rajasthan Drug Controller Ajay Phatak said the proposed “Blood Camp Management” application is being developed with the support of the Information Technology and Communication Department.

“The app will allow donors to register online, submit health details and receive approval regarding their eligibility for donation,” he said.

The initiative is being undertaken by the state’s Food Safety and Drug Control Department in coordination with the Medical and Health Department to ease difficulties faced by patients and their families in arranging blood, they said.

According to the officials, barcode tagging of blood bags and GPS tracking of thermoboxes will help monitor transportation time and storage conditions, reducing the risk of errors such as transfusion of incorrect blood.

The app will also enable automatic tracking of blood validity. It will be integrated with the portal through API support by the Centre for Development of Advanced Computing.

Food Safety Commissioner T Shubhamangala said the e-RaktKosh portal already provides real-time information on blood availability across registered blood banks, helping patients quickly locate required blood groups, including rare negative types. PTI SDA SHS SHS SHS
