Nanded, Sep 11 (PTI) A total of 4,904 Kunbi, Kunbi-Maratha and Maratha-Kunbi caste certificates have been issued in Nanded district in nearly three years, while 40,901 SEBC certificates have been distributed in the past two-and-a-half years, officials said on Friday.
A total of 1,752 Kunbi records have been traced in 106 villages in the district through the Justice Sandeep Shinde Committee, they added.
Between October 24, 2023 and September 11, 2026, the administration received 4,930 applications for Kunbi, Kunbi-Maratha and Maratha-Kunbi certificates.
Of these, 4,904 certificates have been issued, while only 16 applications were rejected for want of prescribed evidence. Ten applications are currently under scrutiny, an official said.
The certificate approval rate stands at 99.51 per cent, he said.
Eligible citizens who do not have Kunbi records but have a record showing their caste as Maratha are also being issued certificates for the 10 per cent Maratha SEBC reservation, the official said.
“Between April 1, 2024 and September 11, 2026, a total of 40,901 SEBC certificates were issued in the district. To simplify the process of obtaining caste certificates, special camps are being organised at every revenue circle from September 10 to 17,” the official said.
Gram sevaks, talathis and circle officers have been directed to help applicants submit completed forms at the nearest Maha e-Seva or Common Service Centre, while tehsildars and other competent authorities have been instructed to process the applications on priority, he said.
Deputy Collector Ajay Shinde has been appointed as the district-level nodal officer to address difficulties faced by citizens in obtaining caste and caste validity certificates and to make the process faster and more transparent.
“A help desk has also been set up at the district collectorate to guide citizens on caste certificate-related issues. The district administration has made tehsil-wise Kunbi records available on the Nanded district administration website,” he said.
Eligible citizens have been advised to obtain certified copies of relevant records and submit the prescribed documents, including residence certificates and genealogical records, while applying online through service centres, the official said.
These certificates are being issued following a stir for quota for the Maratha community. Activist Manoj Jarange has been seeking Kunbi certificates for Marathas so that they can avail reservations in jobs and education.
