Amaravati, Sep 11 (PTI) Union Minister J P Nadda and Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu will jointly inaugurate critical care blocks and integrated public health laboratories at various locations across the state on Saturday.
The state government said the 22 facilities have been completed at a combined cost of Rs 249 crore and will be inaugurated at a programme at BR Ambedkar Kalavedika in Vijayawada.
“Nadda and Naidu will jointly inaugurate 10 Critical Care Blocks and 12 Integrated Public Health Laboratories at various locations across Andhra Pradesh on Saturday,” a press release said on Friday.
The 10 CCBs will add 500 critical care beds and provide specialised services in cardiology, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, besides having operation theatres and ultrasound facilities.
The new blocks are expected to bring emergency and advanced care closer to patients, particularly those from poor and middle-income families, reducing the need to travel to distant centres for specialised treatment.
Of the 26 IPHLs sanctioned by the Centre, 14 are already functioning, while the remaining 12 will be inaugurated on Saturday.
The laboratories will offer district-level diagnostic services, including microbiology and haematology tests, helping facilitate the early detection of various diseases.
Naidu is scheduled to leave his Undavalli residence at 10.45 am and reach the Old Government General Hospital in Vijayawada at 11 am. He will attend the inauguration of a CCB and an IPHL there between 11 am and 11.25 am.
He will then proceed to BR Ambedkar Kalavedika at 11.30 am, where he will join the union Health minister for the inauguration of facilities established in various districts. The programme is scheduled to continue until 1.25 pm.
