Mumbai, May 16 (PTI) The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized 3,535 grams of gold worth Rs 2.23 crore from two Indian passengers who had returned from Dubai at the Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport here, an official said.

The duo, who arrived from Dubai on Monday, were part of a syndicate involved in the smuggling of substantial quantities of gold on a daily basis, he said.

Gold in the form of paste was found concealed in four plastic pouches in their luggage, the official said.
