Mumbai, Jun 28 (PTI) The Central Railway will replace 12 non-AC suburban train services on its Main Line with air-conditioned locals from June 29 (Monday), taking the total number of AC services on its network to 120.

In a release issued earlier this week, CR said that the move is aimed at meeting growing passenger demand for more AC services on its suburban network.

These AC locals will replace the existing non-AC suburban services without altering the overall number of suburban train operations, it said.

With the addition, the number of AC services on the Main Line will increase from 80 to 92 on weekdays, while the Harbour Line will continue to have 28 AC services, taking the total across the Mumbai Division to 120, the release said.

Of the 12 upgraded services, six will operate in the UP direction and six in the Down direction.

The new AC services include peak-hour trains such as the Titwala-CSMT service departing at 6.46 am and the CSMT-Kalyan service leaving at 7.18 pm.

The upgraded services will operate with AC rakes from Monday to Saturday, while the corresponding services on Sundays and nominated holidays will continue to run with non-AC rakes, the release said.

It further said that despite the changes, the total number of suburban train services across all lines on the Mumbai Division will remain unchanged at 1,820 on weekdays. PTI KK NR
