Jabalpur, Nov 17 (PTI) Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat arrived at Jabalpur in Madhya Pradesh on Thursday afternoon for a four-day visit, during which he is scheduled to interact with the Sangh volunteers and functionaries and take part in various events.
The visit is significant given that only two years are left for the RSS’s centenary year celebrations. The organisation plans to celebrate the centenary in a grand way, the Sangh’s Mahakaushal Prant Sahaprachar Pramukh Prashant Bajpai said.
On Friday, the RSS chief will meet the Sangh’s Mahakaushal Prant activists.
Mahakaushal region comprises Jabalpur and other districts located in central Madhya Pradesh.
“The next day (Saturday), Bhagwat will speak on the role of the society in nation-building, village development, agriculture and labourers’ welfare, environment and participation of women in walks of life,” Bajpai said.
The heads of various social organisations are expected to take part in the meeting, he said.
On Sunday, Bhagwat will meet the family members of RSS swayamsevaks (volunteers) and speak on the role of family in the country’s development, he added.
As per an estimate, the RSS has around 3,000 pracharaks (full-timer workers), who are performing duty in different wings of the organisation’s offshoots in sectors like defence, education, labour unions and in tribal areas.
The Sangh is aiming to double its organisation strength by roping in part-time volunteers or vistaraks and expanding its footprint ahead of its centenary year, RSS insiders said.
