Gwalior (MP), Aug 25 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh Police have initiated the process to deport 13 Bangladeshi nationals, who were found living illegally in Gwalior, an official Tuesday said.
The police initiated the process after verification under the Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) issued by the Union Home Ministry, he said.
Acting on a tip-off received on August 4, police in Gwalior identified all 13 suspects. During their interrogation and document verification, it was confirmed that they were Bangladeshi nationals, Crime Branch Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Manish Yadav told reporters.
All the suspects were given the opportunity to prove their citizenship but they failed to produce valid documents, he said.
During their interrogation, these people admitted that they had entered India illegally through brokers. While seven of them are men, three each are women and children, Yadav said.
“These people entered the country through West Bengal and had been living and working in Gwalior for the past one-and-a-half years. Now, they have been declared Bangladeshi citizens, and therefore, the process to deport them through a central agency is on. The legal process has been followed,” he said.
All the accused will be sent back to Bangladesh from the West Bengal border by the Border Security Force (BSF), according to him.
