Ratlam (MP), May 3 (PTI) Police on Wednesday arrested a 55-year-old woman and her son for allegedly possessing 505 grams of brown sugar, a banned drug, worth Rs 50 lakh in the international market, an official said.
The action was taken based on a tip-off, he said.
“The woman and her 24-year-old son were nabbed from Favarra Chowk area when they were on their way to Indore in a bus,” Ratlam district’s Superintendent of Police (SP) Siddharth Bahuguna said.
The accused belong to Akola district in Maharashtra and a case had been registered against the male accused at his native place earlier under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, he said.
Initial probe revealed that they brought the contraband from Mandsaur town in MP, the official said, adding that further questioning of the accused was on. PTI COR MAS NP NP
