Sehore, Jun 30 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh revenue minister Karan Singh Verma and BJP’s Ashta MLA Gopal Singh had to face the ire of people in Madhya Pradesh’s Sehore district on Monday due to alleged lack of development.

Videos of the two ruling party leaders being mobbed by irate people at different places went viral on social media.

Verma had arrived to participate in the closing ceremony of Jal Ganga Sanvardhan Abhiyan organised in Khairi village in Ichhawar and his convoy was stopped by people in the afternoon, eyewitnesses said.

Villagers said Verma had promised during the assembly poll campaign to get a road constructed between Kheri and Jamli but work on it had not even started. Those who blocked the minister’s convoy included women, eyewitnesses said.

Police later removed those who were standing in front of the convoy, they said.

In Ashta, residents of Bhupod village argued with MLA Gopal Singh about lack of development works when he was holding a public hearing near his office.

A villager said Singh had adopted Bhupod a year ago but no development work had started.

Meanwhile, in Kisalpuri in Dindori district, villagers angered over water and electricity woes blocked the road to Mandla by placing empty utensils, eyewitnesses said.

It took a lot of effort on the part of local officials to persuade the protesters to clear the road, they added. PTI COR MAS BNM
