Bhopal, Apr 30 (PTI) Field work for house listing and housing enumeration as part of the first phase of the 2027 Census will begin in Madhya Pradesh on May 1 and continue till May 30, an official said.

Census personnel will go door-to-door to collect information related to houses, families and other structures, he said.

A review meeting was held on Thursday by the state Home Department and Census Operations Directorate to finalise preparations.

Census Director Kartikey Goyal reviewed the preparations with all divisional commissioners, district collectors, municipal corporation commissioners and others via video conferencing, the official said.

The entire process will be conducted digitally, and enumerators will enter information through a mobile application.

All field workers will be issued photo identity cards, and citizens have been urged to provide information only to authorized personnel, the official said.

The Census Director said that house-listing is not just data collection but the cornerstone of development plans. No area should be left out, he said.

It was also directed that district-level teams be activated to monitor rumors and fake news on social media and promptly refute them.

A toll-free helpline number, 1855, will be available for census-related assistance. Information provided by citizens will be kept completely confidential, the official said. PTI MAS KRK
