Jabalpur, Oct 10 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court has directed the state government to produce before it a woman, who was allegedly detained while travelling to Delhi for the Cockroach Janta Party’s protest, or ensure her safe return to her family by Tuesday.

The woman, Preeti Londhe, was travelling on the Goa Express to attend the CJP’s protest against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar in Delhi when personnel from the Railway Protection Force deboarded her at Itarsi station in Narmadapuram district on Thursday and handed her over to the state police.

A division bench of Chief Justice A Y Kogje and Justice Vivek Jain on Friday issued notices to the state government and others on a habeas corpus petition filed by Londhe’s sister, Vishakha Prashant Londhe.

The bench directed the state government to produce Preeti Londhe before the court.

It also allowed the government to produce her before the next hearing on Tuesday, provided it gave prior notice to the other side.

The court also directed that the government could arrange for the woman’s safe return to her family. PTI LAL ARU

Nine Years, Made Possible by Readers

In 2017, Shekhar Gupta started ThePrint with a simple belief: Indian readers want journalism that asks why and what next, not just what. And that enough of them would be willing to pay for good journalism.

Nine years on, that belief has held.

And, in these nine years, we’ve stayed true to our mission. We’ve been asking the follow-up questions, going beyond the headlines and explaining what’s actually happening. We’ve travelled across the country to bring you in-depth, visually-compelling stories from the ground.

It’s been nine years of readers choosing to make this possible. If you’d like to be one of them:
