Bhopal, Jul 20 (PTI) The Madhya Pradesh Congress will hold a two-day training camp for its legislators from Monday in Mandu, a tourist destination in the state’s Dhar district, party leaders said.
Among the sessions at the ‘chintan shivir’ will be one titled ‘False cases and investigation agencies: Attack on democracy’, which will take place at noon on the first day, a senior leader said.
He said Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi is likely address the legislators virtually since the Monsoon session of Parliament will begin from Monday, adding that 64 MLAs will join via video link due to unavoidable personal work.
Congress Rajya Sabha MP and senior Supreme Court lawyer Vivek Tankha said he would address MLAs through video conferencing on how to defend themselves in false cases.
“I will also speak on the way to counter BJP politically and how to fight a battle as a responsible opposition. I will focus on how to strengthen the party so that power can be wrested from BJP in MP in the 2028 polls. I am unable to attend in person due to the Monsoon session and prior engagements in the apex court,” he said.
AICC MP political affairs general secretary Harish Chaudhary and MP Congress chief Jitu Patwari will also address the camp on Monday, a party functionary said.
Incidentally, on July 8, Patwari staged a protest over an FIR registered against him by Mongaoli police in Ashoknagar district on the complaint of a youth who he claimed he was trying to help. As per Patwari, the youth had been assaulted and fed excreta and had met him to seek help in getting justice.
“Motivational speaker Sonu Sharma will address MLAs on the themes of leadership, discipline, and organisational unity. Former chief minister Kamal Nath is scheduled to join virtually for a session on ‘Madhya Pradesh’s future and economic policy, focusing on economic challenges and growth strategies,” the functionary said.
“Post lunch, Congress media department chairperson Pawan Khera will speak on media management and narrative building through effective communication of party ideology. Former MP assembly principal secretary Bhagwandas Israni will brief MLAs on use of RTI, audit reports, and house rules to target ruling party lapses,” he added.
Group discussions among 10-member MLA teams focusing on issues concerning ST, SC, and OBC communities will also take place, and reports will be compiled from the deliberations, he said.
“On Tuesday, Rajya Sabha MP and former Union Minister Ajay Maken will speak during the first session on core Congress principles, constitutionalism, secularism, inclusive development, and social justice. Congress social media head Supriya Shrinate will share tips on strategies focusing on digital media, including use of X, Facebook, short videos, tackling trolling, and image building,” the functionary said.
