Bhopal, Jul 21 (PTI) Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Monday performed ‘bhoomi pujan’ of a MLA rest house complex here, which he said will be built using the latest technologies in the fields of construction and architecture.

It will provide a better environment to MLAs for public welfare and service, Yadav said.

Addressing the foundation laying ceremony in the presence of assembly speaker Narendra Singh Tomar, Yadav said, “The construction of this rest house is the need of the hour. It reflects the spirit of moving towards the future with modern facilities. The state government has made a provision of Rs 5-5 lakh in the budget for the modernisation of offices of MLAs.” Yadav also announced approval for the construction of the second phase of the new MLA Rest House.

An official statement said the new MLA rest house will be built at a cost of about Rs 160 crore and will have 102 flats.

“MLAs are representatives of the people and it is necessary for them to get timely facilities. To fulfil this, new MLA rest houses are being constructed. In the coming time, when the assembly of Madhya Pradesh will be ready as e-assembly, then the MLAs will get its benefit.” Tomar said.

“The current MLA rest house was built in 1958. This building has completed a journey of 67 years and is now old. MLAs were feeling that a new one should be built since the present structure lacked facilities according to the time. The (assembly) speakers preceding me have also played an important role and contribution in completing this project,” Tomar added.

Urban Development and Housing and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya said this rest house will be equipped with modern facilities, security and technical requirements, which will provide the MLAs with a suitable environment for work.

“Today continuous efforts are being made towards technical resources for the MLAs, so that they can play an active role in the development process,” he said.

The new house will provide fully equipped accommodation with three bedrooms, drawing room, kitchen, washroom etc. in an area of about 2600 square feet. It will also provide office, personal staff and PSO room for the members. PTI MAS BNM
