Bhopal, May 14 (PTI) The BJP Kisan Morcha president of Bhind district was removed by the party on Thursday for a rally that involved hundreds of vehicles, which went against the appeal for austerity by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Sajjan Singh Yadav, who was appointed to the post just a few days ago, was removed on the order of MP BJP chief Hemant Khndelwal.
The rally was organised on Wednesday in Bhind city, some 500 kilometres from here, to mark Yadav’s taking over as the district’s Kisan Morcha chief, party functionaries said.
The BJP issued a letter to Yadav stating that his actions contradicted the prime minister’s appeal and amounted to gross indiscipline.
“Yadav’s appointment had been cancelled on grounds of indiscipline and for not adhering to repeated appeals by PM Modi to save fuel and follow austerity measures,” Khandelwal said.
Amid the crisis in West Asia, Modi on Sunday suggested reducing petrol and diesel consumption, using metro rail services in cities, carpooling, increased use of electric vehicles, utilising railway services for parcel movement and working from home to conserve foreign exchange. PTI LAL BNM
