Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh Police Friday arrested three more men in connection with the assault on two young Army officers and their two women friends near Jam Gate in Indore two days ago.
According to the police, six people were involved in the assault. The accused have been identified as Anil Baror, 27, Pawan Bansuniya, 23, Ritesh Bhabhar, 25, Rohit Girwal, 23, Sandeep Wariya, 23, and Sachin Makwana, 25. The police have identified Anil and Ritesh as the main accused, and claim the two have confessed to raping one of the women. It is not yet clear whether any of the other accused were involved in the alleged sexual assault.
While Anil and Pawan were arrested immediately, the other four were nabbed from the jungles of Manpur. Ritesh was found first and arrested Thursday, while Rohit, Sandeep and Sachin were arrested Friday.
According to Additional Superintendent of Police Rupesh Diwedi, police personnel formed special teams and took the help of local residents, especially those familiar with the jungle terrain. These teams scoured the forested area while police personnel in plain clothes gathered information about where the four could have hidden.
The assault on the Army officers and their two women friends took place at Jam Gate around 2 am Wednesday. One officer expressed concern that one of the women might have been sexually assaulted, leading the police to book Anil and Pawan for rape, among other charges.
The police are yet to record the statement of the woman. Speaking to The Print, Superintendent of Police (Indore Rural) Hitika Vasale said, “We do not want to force her. Hopefully, we should be able to record her statement in a day or two.”
Vasale added they were able to nab all six accused within 50 hours of the crime.
Meanwhile, Indore Rural DIG Nimish Aggarwal told the media that Ritesh and Anil had confessed to raping the woman. “They will undergo a medical examination soon,” he added.

The Army must initiate an detailed investigation into the activities of the young Army officers. Even though Ms. Iram Siddique is trying hard to.make us believe that they were picnicking at 2 am in the morning, the truth remains that only an idiot will believe that.
Everyone understands what they were upto at 2 am in the morning in a deserted and lonely place like Jam Gate.
The Army must take strict disciplinary action against these officers.
