New Delhi: The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI) is all set to conduct a review of the progress of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) at the national level. This will be in line with India’s commitment as a member of the Inter-agency and Expert Group on Sustainable Development Goal Indicators (IAEG-SDGs), a PIB press release stated.

The review, titled ‘Review of milestone setting for SDGs National Indicators’, is scheduled for August 16, 2024, at the Vigyan Bhawan in New Delhi. The programme will be attended by officials from various line ministries of government, NITI Aayog and MoSPI. The Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation has developed a National Indicator Framework for monitoring the progress of SDGs at the national level.

As per the framework, MoSPI released the ‘Sustainable Development Goals – National Indicator Framework Progress Report 2024’ on June 29, 2024, along with two other SDG publications. While the National Indicator Framework was developed keeping in mind the updated SDGs-NIF, the progress report presents a review of the progress made in implementing the SDGs.

The government is committed to sensitising the different departments about the recent developments in order to strengthen the overall framework. This review is part of the ongoing 2025 Comprehensive Review of the global SDG indicator framework. The views of India as a member of the IAEG-SDGs will be taken into consideration during the review, with the aim of contributing significantly to the ongoing review.
