Jaipur, Jun 9 (PTI) BJP Rajya Sabha candidate and former Rajasthan BJP president Satish Poonia on Tuesday said the 12 years of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership have been marked by trust, development and public welfare and asserted that India is steadily moving towards becoming a developed nation.

Congratulating Modi on completing 12 years in office, Poonia said the change that began in 2014 has transformed governance and public service in the country.

He said the Modi government has translated the aspirations of the people into concrete results through its policies and programmes.

“The last 12 years have witnessed major achievements in development, good governance, self-reliance and welfare initiatives,” he said.

Poonia said that the government’s work has benefited the poor, strengthened infrastructure, empowered farmers and women, created opportunities for youth and enhanced India’s global standing.

The BJP leader said the government’s focus on inclusive development and nation-building has created a strong foundation for future growth and prosperity.

In a separate appeal to party workers and supporters, Poonia requested them not to bring gifts, shawls, turbans or garlands to honour him for the Rajya Sabha elections.

He said a smile and a meeting were sufficient expressions of respect.

He urged people to donate to gaushalas, assist differently-abled persons, support the education of students, help the needy and contribute towards opening Sukanya Samriddhi accounts for girls instead of spending money on ceremonial gifts.

Poonia said such acts of public service would be the greatest honour for him and would contribute to social welfare and nation-building. PTI SDA APL APL
