Aizawl, Oct 29 (PTI) Mizoram Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar has sought more support from the Centre for tourism projects in the state, during a series of meetings with senior government officials in New Delhi.

He also said that the Mizoram government was working to develop Aizawl and its surrounding areas into a tourism circuit at an estimated cost of Rs 250 crore, according to an official statement.

Hmar, who is also the State Sports Minister, met Tourism Secretary Bhuvnesh Kumar and Information and Broadcasting Secretary Chanchal Kumar, among other officials, in the national capital on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Hmar highlighted tourism as a key avenue for revenue generation and economic development in Mizoram, which has limited large-scale industries, the statement said.

Bhuvnesh Kumar stressed the need for more trained tourism service providers, particularly tour guides, and better accommodation facilities to meet the needs of a growing number of visitors to Mizoram, it added. PTI CORR RBT
