Aizawl, May 4 (PTI) Mizoram Chief Minister Lalduhoma on Monday met NITI Aayog member Dr V K Paul in New Delhi, and discussed with him a wide range of issues, including the state’s development priorities and future collaboration, an official statement said.
Lalduhoma expressed gratitude for NITI Aayog’s continued support, highlighting tangible gains in key sectors, particularly horticulture, the statement said.
He said that the recognition of Mizoram as the “Ginger Capital of India,” is yielding positive outcomes.
The chief minister also pointed out that Mizoram is the first state to be declared fully literate, one of the cleanest and least corrupt states, and has made significant progress in promoting tourism.
He said that Mizoram remains one of the most peaceful states in the country.
“Recently, we have also reached a peace agreement with the last remaining armed group,” Lalduhoma added.
During the meeting, Dr Paul lauded the Mizoram government for its effective coordination with NITI Aayog and praised the leadership of the chief minister.
He said the partnership between the state and the national policy think tank has been productive, and noted that Mizoram is widely recognised by other states as a peaceful state.
State Tourism Minister Lalnghinglova Hmar, who was present at the meeting, joined discussions on upcoming joint initiatives, including a proposed Tourism Conclave to be organised in collaboration with NITI Aayog, the statement said.
Officials said a pre-conclave meeting will be held in New Delhi later this month to finalise plans.
During the meeting, Dr Paul and other NITI Aayog officials outlined support measures such as strengthening Mizoram’s tourism policy, facilitating free training under the Institute of Hotel Management’ Ashok (IHM-A), and attracting investors in the tourism sector, they said. PTI CORR RG
