Ministry of Culture awards scholarships to young artists

400 scholarships to promote Indian culture and heritage.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Culture of India has announced the award of 400 scholarships to young artists of outstanding promise in the Indian classical music, dance, theatre, mime, visual art, folk, traditional and indigenous arts, and light classical music.

Each year, one batch of 400 scholarships is provided by the Ministry of Culture to young artists of the age group of 18-25 years. The amount of the scholarship is Rs 5,000 per pm for two years and is released in four equal six-month installments.

In addition to this, the Ministry of Culture also offers 400 fellowships to outstanding persons of the age group of 25-40 years and above 40 years in different cultural fields. The amount of the fellowship is Rs 10,000 per pm for two years and is released in four equal six-month installments.

To apply for the scholarship or fellowship, the applicants will have to visit the official website of the Ministry of Culture. There is also a link available on the website for the list of eligible candidates and the application process.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the aim of these scholarships and fellowships is to promote Indian culture and heritage among the young population and to preserve the diversity of our society.

In addition to this, the Ministry of Culture also organizes a number of other schemes and fellowships to support young artists across the country. One such initiative is the Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsamak (RSM). Under this, young artists from all over India are given an opportunity to showcase their talents in various cultural programmes across the country.
