Imphal, Jul 11 (PTI) The governor-in-council of Manipur has approved the appointment of Chingakham Naoba Singh, younger brother of late BSF constable Deepak Chingakham, as an assistant sub-inspector (civil police), a state home department statement said on Friday.
Constable Deepak Chingakham (25), who served in the 7th Battalion of the Border Security Force, was killed during ‘Operation Sindoor’ following unprovoked cross-border firing by Pakistani forces in the RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir on May 10.
“Following the martyrdom, the bereaved father had requested the Governor for a suitable state government job for his younger son, Chingakham Naoba Singh,” the statement said.
“The family chose to forgo a job opportunity offered by the BSF within Manipur so that Naoba could stay close to the family in this time of hardship,” it added.
“The governor-in-council, after due consideration, found merit in the request, based on the exceptional nature of the case involving martyrdom in national service and the morale and humanitarian responsibility of the state to support families of national heroes” it added.
