Lucknow (UP), Jun 24 (PTI) A 22-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death following a clash between two groups in the Ankur Vihar area of Ghaziabad, police said on Wednesday.

The incident took place on Tuesday night and the deceased was identified as Aftab, a resident of Jeevan Gate in the Tronica City area.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Rural) Surendra Nath Tiwari said Aftab had come to the Ankur Vihar area with a friend when he got into an altercation with a group of men.

The dispute soon escalated into a violent clash between two groups near the Vijay Vihar underpass. During the incident, Aftab’s companion fled from the spot, while the assailants allegedly stabbed Aftab multiple times, leaving him critically injured, police said.

Police shifted Aftab to the Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital in Delhi, where doctors declared him dead.

Tiwari said necessary legal action is being initiated. The postmortem examination is being conducted by Delhi Police.

Police said they are investigating the case from multiple angles and efforts are underway to identify and arrest the accused.

The incident comes weeks after a stabbing case in Ghaziabad’s Khoda area.

On May 28, a 17-year-old boy, Surya Pratap Chauhan, was allegedly killed after an altercation. The murder led to protests by local residents and an extensive search operation by police.

The prime suspect, Asad, was subsequently killed in an encounter with police, while multiple other individuals were taken into custody for their alleged involvement in the crime. PTI CDN DV DV
