Lucknow, May 27 (PTI) A 43-year-old man was shot dead by two unidentified assailants on a motorcycle in the PGI police station area here on Wednesday, officials said.
According to the police, the incident took place around 1:00 pm, and upon receiving information about the shooting, a local police team rushed to the spot and shifted the critically injured Sandeep Singh to a nearby medical facility.
Singh died during treatment.
He was a native of Takari village in the Shikara area of Jaunpur district and was currently residing in the Vrindavan Yojana locality here.
Preliminary investigations revealed that two unidentified assailants riding a motorcycle opened fire at Singh before fleeing the spot.
Four dedicated police teams have been constituted to identify and arrest the culprits. The teams are currently scanning CCTV footage from the area and collecting other scientific evidence, a senior police official said.
A case has been registered on a complaint filed by the victim’s wife, Preeti.
Further legal proceedings and a manhunt to nab the attackers are underway, police added. PTI ABN APL APL
