Garhwa, Jul 19 (PTI) A 40-year-old man was shot dead by motorcycle-borne assailants in Jharkhand’s Garhwa district on Sunday, police said.
The incident took place between 10 am and 11 am near the Saal forest area on the Bhandariya-Bargarh Road under the Bargarh Police Station limits, a senior officer said.
The deceased, a resident of Paaspara village in Simdega, was identified as Deepak Kujur.
“The incident occurred when Kujur was returning home on a motorcycle from his in-laws’ house in Bairiya village. As he was crossing the forest area, unidentified motorcycle-borne assailants shot him and fled the scene,” Ranka SDPO Rohit Ranjan Singh said.
Kujur was taken to the Bhandariya hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries during treatment, the officer said.
His body was sent for post-mortem examination at Sadar Hospital, Garhwa, the SDPO said.
“An FIR has been registered in the case, and a probe is underway to identify and trace the culprits. Raids are also being conducted at various locations,” he added. PTI CORR RPS RPS BDC
