Kota, Oct 19 (PTI) A 25-year-old man was killed and his friend injured after they were attacked by a group of over dozen assailants armed with sharp weapons and iron roads here, police said on Saturday.

According to police, the attack stemmed from a personal enmity between the victim and the accused.

The incident took place on the intervening night of Friday and Saturday on New Ring Road to Dadabari in Jawahar Nagar area when Sunil Yogi (25) and Nikhil Vardhan were on their motorcycle, Jawahar Nagar Sub-Inspector Gopal Lal said .

The group of assailants came in a car as well as on a motorcycle and allegedly rammed into the duo’s vehicle causing them to fall on the ground. They then attacked the duo with the sharp weapons and iron rods, Lal said.

Police reached the spot after receiving information about the incident and took the victims to a nearby hospital, where doctors declared Yogi dead upon arrival, he said.

Vardhan is currently undergoing treatment for his injuries, the officer added.

Primary investigations suggest that the motive behind the attack stemmed from a personal enmity between Yogi and the accused individuals, he said.

Based on the complaint lodged by Vardhan, a case of murder has been registered against five to six identified accused and over a dozen unidentified people, the officer added.

The body has been handed over to the victim’s family after post-mortem on Saturday morning, police said, adding that efforts are underway to nab the accused.

Meanwhile, Vardhan, while speaking to reporters at the hospital, identified some of the accused as Diwan, Vikky, Bhadur, Stapni, and Neeraj. PTI COR OZ OZ
