Chandigarh, Jun 17 (PTI) One man sustained a bullet injury in a firing incident that took place in Punjab’s Jalandhar on Wednesday, police said.

They said the firing must have been the fallout of a gang rivalry, though they are probing all angles.

In the incident that took place at Babu Labh Singh Nagar in Jalandhar, Rahul, a resident of Arya Nagar, received a bullet injury on his stomach and was admitted to a hospital, they said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayant Puri said that after receiving information, police verified the incident and recovered a bullet shell from the spot.

“Our different teams, including the Crime Investigation Agency and the Crime Branch, are working on it. We are conducting raids at different places to nab those involved in the incident,” he said.

Some residents in the area said they heard sounds of multiple rounds of firing.

Shalu Arora, a local, said she heard the sound of multiple gunshots early morning, and saw five to six people fleeing in a black SUV. PTI CHS RUK RUK
