Thane, Jul 21 (PTI) One person was arrested allegedly with mephedrone worth Rs 1.69 crore near Mumbra bypass in Thane district, a police official said on Monday.

Mohanlal Gunshji Joshi alias Sharma (55) was held on July18 after a car was intercepted on a specific tip-off, Thane Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Amarsingh Jadhav said.

“The operation was carried out by Crime Branch Phase I personnel. Sharma is a resident of Palghar district. We seized mephedrone worth Rs 1.69 crore. A case was registered at Mumbra police station under Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. Further probe into the peddling racket is underway,” Jadhav informed. PTI COR BNM
