Kochi, Apr 15 (PTI) The excise department arrested a man and seized 142 grams of MDMA and four grams of hashish oil here on Wednesday, officials said.
The arrested person was identified as Rashid, a native of Malappuram.
According to Excise officials, during a vehicle checking drive early Wednesday morning, 48 grams of MDMA and four grams of hashish oil were recovered from his possession near Palluruthy in Kochi.
Subsequently, a search was conducted at his rented room in Edappally, from where an additional 94 grams of MDMA was seized.
The seized drugs are worth around Rs four lakhs.
Excise officials said Rashid was a major drug peddler who procured MDMA from groups in other states and sold it in Kochi at higher prices.
