Thane, Oct 16 (PTI) The Government Railway Police booked some persons for abetting the suicide of a man from Palghar with the investigation revealing that the victim was thrashed recently for allegedly stalking a girl, an official said.

One Roshan Patel from Palghar district was run over by a goods train going towards JNPT in Thane district on September 24, following which police launched a probe, he said on Wednesday.

“Days before Patel’s death, he was thrashed in his locality by some people who accused him of stalking a girl. Since then, he has been depressed,” said GRP senior inspector Kiran Undre.

Police have booked a man, identified as Shiva from Chinchoti in Palghar district, and some other unidentified persons for driving Patel to suicide, he said, adding that nobody has been arrested so far.

Police recovered a video message of the victim in his mobile phone explaining the motive behind taking the extreme step and blaming the accused, said Undre.

“This video message was considered as a suicide note and offence registered,” he added. PTI COR NR NSK
