Mumbai, Jun 13 (PTI) An unidentified man, believed to be in his 20s, died of electrocution after coming in contact with a high-voltage transformer cable in Mumbai’s eastern suburb of Mulund on Saturday, officials said.
The incident occurred on LBS Road, beside the Richardson and Cruddas Company premises and opposite R Mall.
A man came in contact with a transformer cable and suffered a severe electric shock. He was rushed to the nearby civic-run Agarwal Hospital, where doctors declared him dead, the official said.
Citing information received from the fire brigade, a civic official said a fire also erupted at the spot. It was confined to an electric cable connected to a 22,000-volt transformer, dry leaves and the victim’s clothes, the official said.
A security guard of Richardson and Cruddas extinguished the blaze using two dry chemical powder extinguishers before the arrival of firefighters, he said.
Power supply to the transformer was disconnected, while fire brigade teams carried out cooling operations, the official said.
The victim’s identity was yet to be established, and further investigation was underway, the official said. PTI KK NR
