Budaun (UP), May 4 (PTI) A 28-year-old man was bludgeoned to death with an iron chain allegedly by three men after a dispute over a paltry sum of Rs 200 in the Kotwali police station area here, police said on Monday.
The incident took place at around 11 pm on Sunday in the Kabulpura locality. Where two suspects have been taken into custody, a search is underway for the third, police said.
According to ASP (City) Abhishek Kumar Singh, the victim, Shahid, a resident of Chaudhary Sarai, worked as a painter.
“Shahid had a financial transaction of Rs 500 with the accused — Naim, Fazal and Wasif. He had returned Rs 300 of the sum. On Sunday night, the trio confronted Shahid and demanded the balance of Rs 200.
“The confrontation turned violent when the accused attacked Shahid with a heavy iron chain locked with a padlock, inflicting fatal blows to his chest, neck, and torso,” the ASP said.
The locals rushed Shahid to the district hospital, where he was declared dead, he added.
“Naim and Wasif have been arrested, and teams have been deployed to nab Fazal, who is currently absconding,” the officer said. PTI COR ABN ARI
