Maharashtra reports 10 COVID-19 cases, takes tally to 2557; toll 40 after one death in last 24 hours

Mumbai, Jul 4 (PTI) Maharashtra reported 10 COVID-19 cases on Friday, while one person died of the infection in the last 24 hours, a state health department official said.

The toll since January 1 this year has risen to 40 following the death of a person in Mira Bhayander in neighbouring Thane district, while the tally during this period stands at 2,557, he said.

The new cases comprise three each from Mumbai and Pune, one each from Nagpur and Chandrapur and two from Thane district, the state health department said.

The 40 fatalities include 39 with comorbidities, it added.

The tally included 1,005 cases from Mumbai, of which 551 were detected in June and 13 in July so far.

It said 2,449 persons have been discharged since January 1 following recovery. A total of 32,33 COVID-19 tests have been carried out in the state this year. PTI SM BNM
