Mumbai, Jul 18 (PTI) Maharashtra Governor CP Radhakrishnan prorogued both houses of the state legislature on Friday, bringing an end to the three-week-long monsoon session during which key bills on combating Left-wing extremism and trying drug peddlers under the MCOCA were passed.
The prorogation order was read out in the assembly by speaker Rahul Narwekar and in the council by chairperson Ram Shinde.
The winter session of state legislature will start in Nagpur from December 8, it was announced.
Among the key legislations passed during the session, which began on June 30, were Maharashtra Special Public Security Bill, which seeks to crackdown on Left-wing extremist outfits, and an amendment to the Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime Act (MCOCA) to book drug peddlers under the stringent act.
