Nanded, Apr 18 (PTI) The Maharashtra government has suspended the licences of 16 agricultural service centres across Nanded district for allegedly violating regulatory norms, officials said on Saturday.
The agriculture department has launched a drive to ensure the smooth supply of quality seeds, fertilisers and pesticides to farmers during the upcoming Kharif season, they said.
During inspections, several serious irregularities, including discrepancies in the e-POS system and mismatches in stock records, were found among wholesale and retail fertiliser dealers.
As violations were established, action was taken against 16 agricultural service centres, following hearings conducted on Friday, an official said, adding that farmers have been urged to purchase seeds and fertilisers only from authorised agri centres. PTI COR NR
