Lucknow, Jun 15 (PTI) Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said a land in Lucknow that was once allegedly occupied by a notorious mafia figure has been transformed into the State Forensic Institute after the double-engine government’s “bulldozer policy” came to force.
Addressing the concluding session of the D-3 (Digital Democracy Dialogue) ‘Triveni’ programme here, Adityanath said the mafia had become so influential under the patronage of the then government that even the police were unable to recover their own land.
“However, when the double-engine government’s bulldozer policy came into effect, the mafia voluntarily surrendered the land to the government. Today, a grand State Forensic Institute stands on that very site,” he said.
According to an official statement, the chief minister interacted with content creators during the event and spoke on issues ranging from media and law and order to forensic infrastructure, defence manufacturing, tourism, medical education and cultural heritage.
Highlighting Uttar Pradesh’s defence manufacturing push, Adityanath said BrahMos missiles are now being manufactured in Lucknow under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The state government, he said, allotted nearly 200 acres of land free of cost for the project.
“The value of land cannot be greater than national security,” he said, adding that while the land was provided free of cost, the state would benefit through tax revenues once production reaches full scale,” he said.
Adityanath said Uttar Pradesh is expected to earn around Rs 135 crore annually in Goods and Services Tax (GST) revenue from the project, which has an annual production target of about 150 BrahMos missiles.
He further said investment proposals worth Rs 35,000 crore have been received for the Uttar Pradesh Defence Corridor, exceeding the initial expectation of Rs 20,000-25,000 crore.
Speaking on the role of the media, Adityanath said it was not appropriate to treat only negative developments as news.
“News should be presented as news. Personal views should not be mixed with news. There is a separate space for views and opinions,” he said.
Addressing content creators, the chief minister said they were not merely creators of content but could also serve as opinion makers and help connect society with the truth.
He said standing by the truth was a challenge in itself but ultimately truth prevails.
“If every individual in society understands and fulfils his or her responsibilities, positive outcomes will certainly follow,” Adityanath said. PTI AR ABN NB NB
