Chennai, Apr, 23 (PTI) Top leaders and celebrities were among the early birds who turned up to cast their votes in their respective constituencies on Thursday.

Voting for the Tamil Nadu Assembly election across 234 segments commenced at 7 AM.

While Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin, Deputy CM Udhayanidhi Stalin, TVK chief Vijay, AMMK chief T T V Dhinakaran voted in Chennai, AIADMK chief Edappadi K Palaniswami voted in Salem. MDMK founder Vaiko and his son Durai Vaiko voted in Kalingapatti in Tenkasi district. Senior Congress leader P Chidambaram cast his vote in Sivaganga district.

DMK leader Kanimozhi, PMK leader Dr Anbumani Ramadoss and DMDK general secretary Premalatha Vijayakanth were among the leaders who voted here soon after polling started in the morning.

Celebrated music composer Ilaiyaraja, actors Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Ajith Kumar, R Sarathkumar, Radhika Sarathkumar, Dhanush, Vikram, Sivakarthikeyan cast their votes at their respective polling stations.

Actor Vijay Sethupathi described voting as a very important task and voted in Chennai.

Deputy CM Udhayanidhi along with his wife and son cast their votes. Chennai Mayor R Priya was among the city-based leading DMK personalities to cast their votes.

Ministers, including EV Velu, KN Nehru, PTR Palanivel Thiagarajan, TRB Rajaa, KKSSR Ramachandran, Anbil Mahesh Poyyamozhi, MRK Panneerselvam voted in their respective areas.

Pradeep Ranganathan, Yogi Babu, Suriya and Jothika, Trisha Krishnan were among the film celebrities who voted. PTI SNR VGN VGN KH
