Labour ministry to discuss reforms in e-Shram portal

New Delhi: The Union Ministry of Labour and Employment will hold a regional meeting in Bengaluru on August 30 to discuss labour reforms, including the implementation of the e-Shram portal, a PIB press release stated.

The meeting, under the chairmanship of Union Minister Shobha Karandlaje, will be attended by the ministers of state for labour and employment of Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Telangana, Kerala, Puducherry, and Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

The main issues of discussion will include the harmonisation of rules made by the states under the Labour Codes, the use of the e-Shram portal as a one-stop solution for accessing social security benefits, and the expansion of coverage of welfare schemes for building and construction workers.
